Newberry Spier is now open!
Dear Parents,
Thank you for your interest in Newberry House at Spier. We are pleased to share that our campus is now open, and our Pre-Primary (3 to 6 years) and Toddler (18 months to 3 years) communities are up and running on the Spier Wine Estate.
Our Pre-Primary gives children a calm, carefully prepared environment where they choose their own work, concentrate for long stretches and grow in independence.
Inside the prepared environment
Every shelf in our Pre-Primary is set out with intention. The materials are real, beautiful and sized for small hands, and each one has a clear purpose and a place to return to. Children choose their own work, and in caring for the environment they learn to care for themselves, each other and the space they share.
Each Montessori material is designed to teach one thing well, and to let a child see and correct their own mistakes. The bells refine a child's ear for pitch. Language materials, such as word cards and small objects, link sounds to letters and words. Practical life work, like washing up on our outdoor deck, builds coordination, concentration and independence.
Come and see it for yourself
The best way to understand Newberry is to see it in action. We run campus tours every Wednesday at 13:00, and we would love to see you there. Book your place below. If Wednesday doesn't suit, contact us and we will find another time.
If you have already booked, we look forward to welcoming you. If you visited before we opened, you are welcome to come again and see the classrooms full of life.

Places in our Pre-Primary and Toddler communities are available now. Apply online and our team will be in touch to arrange the next steps.
Is your child older?
Spier will grow in phases towards the full Newberry offering, from 18 months to 18 years. We are planning to open Lower Elementary (6 to 9 years) in 2027, with further phases to follow as the campus grows.
In the meantime, our Lourensford campus offers the full Newberry pathway today. We would be glad to talk through the options for your family.
For Toddler and Pre-Primary families considering a 2027 start, your child is welcome to join us for a few weeks towards the end of this year, to become familiar with the environment before the new year begins.
